I've spent some time recently out in the McCullough Peaks on the horse range. It's dry and dusty out there and the water holes are looking pretty shallow. The horses seem to be getting by fine in the heat and dry conditions but it is hard not to worry about them. This stallion, a 20 year old called Washakie, is my favorite horse on the range. His scars tell the story of his life. He has suffered some pretty serious injuries over the years but always come back stronger.....like any good warrior. Currently, he spends his days in a small bachelor band with 3 or 4 other stallions. He's a looker!
